Sports Chiropractic
More than just cracking backs. At Forward Spine and Sport, we use chiropractic techniques to maximize your recovery process. Our chiropractic care is true movement rehabilitation, similar to traditional physical therapy, but with more manual manipulation and a much more you-centric approach.
What to Expect
-
Rehabilitative Exercises & Movement
The way we move is controlled by the patterns we establish in our brains. We aim to optimize these patterns by addressing the specific mobility, stability, and strength needs of your body. Through functional movement, we can relieve pain, but also treat the root of your pain or injury.
-
Neurodynamic Mobilization
The peripheral nervous system often plays a role in the way we move and experience pain. This is experienced as numbness, tingling, weakness, and “electric” pain, but it can also present in more subtle ways. Neurodynamic mobilization uses nerve-specific exercises to return nerves to it’s optimal state, reducing compression, entrapment, and sensitivity.
-
Soft-Tissue Therapy
Your soft tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and fascia) often plays a role in pain and injury. As a part of your treatment, multiple forms of soft-tissue therapy may be used, including manual therapy (deep tissue, pin and stretch myofascial treatments), instrument-assisted mobilization (Graston, FAKTR, RockBlades), or cupping.
-
Joint Manipulation
Sometimes called an adjustment, joint manipulation uses quick and controlled movements to improve the motion of restricted joints while helping to decrease pain. Joint mobilizations are another common option, using slower movements to restore normal motion of a joint. This is commonly done in the spine but is also used in other body areas, like the arms and legs.
-
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy, (also called Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT)), delivers an evidence-based, non-surgical solution for patients suffering from chronic soft tissue pain. Shockwave can effectively treat acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain and/or pain that significantly impairs mobility or quality of life.
