Day Two: Active Rest

Active rest days are beneficial for lots of reasons

Improved recovery process

Low-intensity activities such as walking, yoga, or light cardio can increase blood flow to your muscles and promote recovery. This increased blood flow can help flush out metabolic waste products (like lactic acid) that accumulate during intense exercise.

Reduced muscle soreness

Active rest days can help reduce muscle soreness and stiffness by increasing blood flow and promoting mobility.

Increased mental benefits

Active rest days can provide a mental break from intense workouts while still keeping the body moving. This can help reduce stress and increase motivation for your subsequent workouts.

Take advantage of the active rest days by completing one of these lower-intensity activities

40-60 minute walk, moderate intensity

20-30 minute run, low to moderate intensity

30 minute bike, low to moderate intensity
